Description

Salt, Himalayan Pink — Gourmet Grade

(Halite — NaCl)

Himalayan Pink Salt is one of the most celebrated and sought-after specialty salts in the world — a pure, ancient halite (rock salt) mined from the Khewra Salt Mine in the Punjab region of Pakistan, at the foothills of the Salt Range mountains, approximately 300 kilometers from the Himalayas. The Khewra Salt Mine is one of the oldest and largest salt mines in the world, with a history of salt extraction dating back to the 13th century and geological origins stretching back approximately 250 million years — to the Precambrian era, when a vast ancient sea evaporated and left behind enormous deposits of crystallized salt that were subsequently buried and compressed under the rising Himalayan mountain range. The characteristic pink-to-rose color of Himalayan salt — ranging from pale blush to deep rose-red — is caused by trace amounts of iron oxide (Fe₂O₃) and other mineral impurities within the salt crystal matrix. Our Gourmet Grade Himalayan Pink Salt is hand-mined, hand-selected, and Kosher Certified — pure, unrefined, and free of additives. Packaged in a reusable BPA-free jar.

Himalayan Pink Salt is composed primarily of sodium chloride (NaCl — approximately 95–98%), with the remaining 2–5% comprising up to 84 trace minerals and elements including iron (Fe — responsible for the pink color), potassium (K), magnesium (Mg), calcium (Ca), sulfur (S), phosphorus (P), boron (B), fluoride (F), iodine (I — in trace amounts), zinc (Zn), selenium (Se), copper (Cu), manganese (Mn), silicon (Si), and many additional trace elements in minute quantities. Note: while the trace mineral content is real, the quantities present are nutritionally insignificant compared to dietary requirements — Himalayan pink salt is valued primarily for its flavor, purity, and culinary qualities. Kosher Certified.

How to Use

Finishing Salt: Use coarse or medium crystals as a finishing salt — sprinkle over grilled meats, roasted vegetables, salads, chocolate desserts, and caramel for a visually striking and flavorful finish. Cooking: Use fine grain as a direct 1:1 substitute for table salt in all cooking applications. Salt Grinder: Fill a salt grinder with coarse crystals for fresh-ground salt at the table. Baking: Use fine grain in baking as a direct substitute for table salt. Brining: Use for meat and vegetable brines — the mineral complexity adds depth of flavor. Bath Soak: Dissolve in warm bath water for a mineral-rich aromatic bath soak. Salt Blocks: Himalayan salt blocks (sold separately) can be used for cooking, serving, and chilling foods.
