Description

Dong Quai Root

(Angelica sinensis)

Dong Quai — known in Chinese as dāng guī (当归), meaning “return to order” — is one of the most revered and widely used botanicals in Traditional Chinese Medicine, where it has been prescribed by practitioners for over 2,000 years. Angelica sinensis is a fragrant perennial plant native to the cool, high-altitude mountain regions of China, Japan, and Korea, where the root is harvested in autumn after three years of growth. It is sometimes called “female ginseng” in Chinese herbal tradition, reflecting its prominent place in TCM formulations.

Dong Quai Root has a distinctive warm, earthy, slightly sweet and bitter aroma — characteristic of the Apiaceae (carrot) family to which it belongs. Our Dong Quai Root is available in Powder form.
