Description

Rosebuds & Petals, Whole — Red

(Rosa spp.)

The rose — Rosa spp. — is the most celebrated, most cultivated, and most symbolically significant flower in the history of human civilization. Revered across cultures and millennia as the supreme emblem of beauty, love, and the divine, the rose has been cultivated for its fragrance, its beauty, and its botanical properties for at least 5,000 years — with evidence of rose cultivation in ancient Persia, China, Egypt, Greece, and Rome. The ancient Romans scattered rose petals at banquets and festivals, Cleopatra reportedly filled her chambers with rose petals to receive Mark Antony, and the Persians developed the art of rose water distillation — attar of roses — that remains one of the most prized and expensive essential oils in the world. In the medieval European tradition, the rose was the flower of the Virgin Mary; in the Islamic tradition, it was the flower of the Prophet; in the Hindu tradition, it was sacred to Lakshmi. Our Whole Red Rosebuds & Petals are the dried, whole flower buds and petals of Rosa spp. — fragrant, vividly colored, and versatile across culinary, aromatic, cosmetic, and craft applications.

Red rose petals and buds are rich in flavonoids (quercetin, kaempferol, isorhamnetin, anthocyanins — responsible for the deep red color), tannins (ellagitannins and gallotannins), phenolic acids (gallic acid, ellagic acid, chlorogenic acid), volatile essential oils (including geraniol, citronellol, nerol, linalool, phenylethyl alcohol — the characteristic rose fragrance compounds), vitamin C (ascorbic acid), carotenoids (beta-carotene, lycopene), pectin, and organic acids (citric acid, malic acid). Available in Whole form.

A+ quality Roses, Perfect for my hydrosols

I LOVE all things Glenbrook Farms! I make a hydrosol from the Rose buds/petals. I also use them in my skincare oils and shampoos. I buy all my herbs from Glenbrook Farms, and I always will!
