Spearmint Tea
(Mentha spicata) — USA Grown
A clean, bright, naturally caffeine-free herbal tea made from a single ingredient: spearmint leaf (Mentha spicata), grown right here in the United States. Pure, simple, and unmistakably fresh — spearmint tea is one of the most universally enjoyed herbal teas in the world, with a lighter, sweeter, more delicate character than peppermint. Delicious hot or iced, morning or evening.
Mentha spicata — spearmint — is a rhizomatous perennial of the family Lamiaceae native to the Mediterranean region and western Asia, widely cultivated throughout the temperate world and one of the most widely grown culinary and herbal mint species. The characteristic aroma and flavor of spearmint is dominated by carvone (typically 55–75% of the essential oil) — the same compound responsible for the scent of caraway seeds — along with limonene, dihydrocarvone, cis-dihydrocarveol, menthol (in much lower concentrations than peppermint), linalool, beta-caryophyllene, alpha-pinene, myrcene, 1,8-cineole (eucalyptol), pulegone, rosmarinic acid, caffeic acid, chlorogenic acid, luteolin, apigenin, quercetin, rutin, hesperidin, eriocitrin, vitamin C, vitamin A (beta-carotene), iron, calcium, potassium, magnesium, manganese, and folate.
The key distinction between spearmint and peppermint: spearmint’s essential oil is dominated by carvone (55–75%), while peppermint’s is dominated by menthol (35–55%). This is why spearmint has a noticeably sweeter, softer, less “cooling” character than peppermint — making it the preferred mint for culinary use, cocktails, and teas where a gentler mint presence is desired.
USA Grown — our spearmint is sourced from domestic growers, supporting American agriculture and ensuring freshness and traceability from field to cup.
How to Brew
Hot: Steep 1–2 teaspoons per 8 oz of water at 200–208°F for 5–7 minutes. The flavor is clean, bright, and sweetly minty — naturally pleasant without any added sweetener, though a touch of honey is a lovely pairing. Iced: Brew double-strength, steep 6 minutes, strain, and pour over ice for a refreshing cold mint tea. Moroccan Mint Style: Brew strong, sweeten generously with sugar, and serve in a glass — inspired by the classic North African mint tea tradition. Blending: Pairs beautifully with lemon balm, chamomile, lemon peel, and green tea.
Caffeine-free. Keep out of reach of children. Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
