Description
Green Tea Powder
(Camellia sinensis)
Green tea is one of the oldest and most widely consumed beverages in human history — a drink with roots stretching back over 4,000 years to ancient China, where legend holds that Emperor Shen Nong discovered tea in 2737 BCE when leaves from a wild Camellia sinensis tree drifted into his boiling water. From those origins in the misty mountains of Yunnan and Sichuan, tea cultivation spread across Asia, eventually reaching Japan, Korea, India, and the rest of the world, becoming the second most consumed beverage on earth after water.
What distinguishes green tea from black and oolong teas is processing: green tea leaves are quickly steamed or pan-fired after harvest to halt oxidation, preserving the leaf's natural green color, fresh flavor, and full complement of polyphenols. Green tea is naturally rich in catechins (particularly EGCG — epigallocatechin gallate), L-theanine, caffeine, chlorophyll, vitamins C and E, and polyphenol antioxidants — making it one of the most studied botanicals in modern nutritional science. Our Green Tea Powder is finely milled for easy use in beverages, culinary applications, and skincare formulations.

How to Use
Brewed Tea: Whisk or stir ½–1 teaspoon of green tea powder into 8 oz of hot water (not boiling — 160–180°F is ideal to avoid bitterness). Matcha-Style: Whisk vigorously with a bamboo whisk in a small amount of hot water to create a frothy concentrate, then add more water or steamed milk. Smoothies & Lattes: Blend into smoothies, lattes, or iced drinks for a vibrant green color and fresh tea flavor. Culinary Use: Incorporate into baked goods, noodles, ice cream, and confections — green tea powder is a classic ingredient in Japanese sweets (wagashi) and matcha desserts. Skincare: Add to facial masks, body scrubs, and cold-process soap formulations as a natural colorant and antioxidant-rich botanical ingredient.
