Description
Cranesbill Root
(Geranium maculatum)
Cranesbill, also known as Wild Geranium, is a native North American woodland perennial prized in traditional herbalism for its notably high tannin content. Geranium maculatum grows across the eastern United States and Canada, producing delicate pink-purple flowers in spring and the distinctive long, beak-shaped seed pods that give the plant its common name — “cranesbill.” The root has been used for centuries in Native American and early American folk herbal traditions, and was listed in the United States Pharmacopoeia from 1820 to 1916.
At Glenbrook Farms, our Cranesbill Root is available in Cut & Sifted form, suitable for teas, decoctions, and tinctures.
