Description

Comfrey Root

(Symphytum officinale)

Comfrey root is the dried root of Symphytum officinale, the same hardy perennial herb long known in Western folk herbalism as “knitbone” or “boneset.” The root has been a fixture in traditional European herbal practice for centuries, prized by herbalists for its rich content of allantoin and other naturally occurring compounds. Comfrey root has a long history of use in topical preparations, salves, and poultices in traditional herbal traditions across Europe and North America.

At Glenbrook Farms, our Comfrey Root is available in both Cut & Sifted and Powder forms. In accordance with FDA guidance, this product is sold for external use only in topical preparations such as salves, poultices, and infused oils.
