Description
Chicory Root Roasted
Cichorium intybus
Roasted Chicory Root has a rich, bold flavor with a deep, earthy warmth that makes it one of the most beloved coffee alternatives in culinary history. Long before specialty coffee shops existed, chicory root was being roasted and brewed across Europe and the American South — most famously in New Orleans, where it remains a cherished tradition to this day. During lean times in history, roasted chicory and dandelion root were often combined as economical, caffeine-free brews, earning chicory the affectionate nickname “the Poor Man’s Coffee.”
