Description
Cornflowers (centaurea cyanus)
There are approximately 18 cups in one pound
These should be stored in an airtight container out of the light to help preserve the deep blue color.
Cornflowers or Batchelor Buttons as they are sometimes called can be used in many different ways. They are added to tea blends to perk up the appearance or sprinkled on frosted tea cookies or muffins. They can decorate soaps and bath scrubs.
Although the flower has no taste it has been used in herbal medicines in Europe and North America. It has been used where skin or mucus membrane inflammation is present.
