Make Elderberry Syrup in your Insta Pot!

This is a quick way to make your elderberry syrup when you feel the a cold or flu coming on!  

Insta Pot Elderberry Syrup

First mix all of your ingredients together except the honey

3 1/2 cups of distilled water

3/4 cup of dried elderberries

2 tablespoons of grated ginger

1 cinnamon stick crushed

1/2 teaspoon of ground cloves

You can also add 1/4 cup of dried hibiscus flowers, or 1/2 cup of cut rose hips, both very high in Vitamin C.

Set your mixture in the pot, set on High and cook for 9 minutes 

Remove from the pot and let the mixture cool until warm. Strain all the material out of the liquid. Add your honey, and you may add alcohol to extend the shelf life.  Pour into jars and store in the frig. It should stay fresh up to 3 months,

 

Elderberry Syrup

If you do not have an Insta pot but want to use your stove use this recipe,

Mix your ingredients in a pot 

3 1/2 cups of distilled water

3/4 cup of dried elderberries

2 tablespoons of grated ginger

1 cinnamon stick crushed

1/2 teaspoon of ground cloves

add your hibiscus or rosehips also

Bring to a boil and allow mixture to simmer until reduced by half ( about 45 minutes) Remove from the heat cover with a lid allow to sit for about an hour.

Strain the the liquid and the honey. Bottle it up and put in the frig.
