French Polynesia vanilla beans,
(Vanilla Tahitensis) are the seed of the climbing orchid. The planifolia
orchid, also thought of as the bourbon variety, was taken to the islands of
French Polynesia. Here they crossbred with a native orchid and the new
species was created. After many years, the vines were transported to Papua
New Guinea. They are now grown in both places. They are in limited supply
and are much rarer than Madagascar beans
French Polynesian beans have a
unique flavor that can not be matched by any other vanilla bean in the
world.
Gourmet and pastry chefs love to work with
the Tahitensis variety, which is perfect for many applications . Tahitian
vanilla beans, Vanilla
Tahitensis, are generally plumper and have a strong, smooth vanilla flavor
Their flavor is floral and fruity with hints of anise.
Tahitian beans have a stronger aroma than that
of bourbon beans. Our beans are uniform in length, with a
sweet rich flavor and aroma. They are so fresh that they twist
around your finger. Give our beans a try and you'll find out why they call us
"America's Favorite Herb Shop!"
