Cha Cha Chia!
Remember the Chia
Pet? When you find out the wonderful properties of chia seeds you
will never waste them again on pottery .
Resting inside a
little chia seed are the benefits of omega-3 oil, protein, fiber, antioxidants,
vitamins and minerals.
Once the seed is
consumed it releases even more benefits liked energy, balancing
blood sugars, and providing fiber. If something gives you energy,
fiber and curbs the wild blood sugar swings, what should happen?
You should lose weight,,,, Hey.. I’m just saying , think about it.
just another great benefit!
Chia seeds can be
eaten as is, ground and put into baked goods, made into a gel and
added to any recipe or dissolved in water and used as a fiber drink.
Here on the farm we are adding chia seeds to our ice tea drinks.
It’s rather odd but refreshing ..but we have all noticed a kick in
the energy level.
Another amazing
fact.. chia seeds are so full of antioxidants that they never go
rancid. You can store them for years.
They mostly contain a- linolenic acid (ALA) and also amino acids.
I would also consider them a food to be put in a survival kit
So what does ALA do?
Many autoimmune disorders such as
lupus, certain forms of cancer, multiple sclerosis benefit from
ALA and the family of omega-3 oils. Other conditions benefited
include depression, migraine headache, and diabetes.
Studies suggest that ALA and other
omega-3 fatty acids may be helpful in treating a variety of
conditions. The evidence is strongest for heart disease and problems
that contribute to heart disease.
The Chia seed a rich source of
calcium , plus it contains the mineral boron, which acts as
catalyst for the absorption and utilization of the calcium by the
body.
Chia is 20 % protein and with it’s
water retaining abilities helps to repair hair skin and nails. Plus
20% protein is going to build muscle mass while helping you to burn
fat. ….
