Great Food for Picky Eaters

breakfast bars

Do you have a child that is a picky eater? Do you worry that they might not be getting the proper nutrition they need. Your worries are probably on target. There are alot of empty calorie foods out there that taste good but offer nothing in nutritional value.

This is a cookie that we let our children eat for breakfast .We didn't want them to get the notion that cookies were for breakfast so we called them "Breakfast Bars"(that was before there was such a thing). This bar is packed with nutrition and tastes great!

Nutrition Packing Breakfast Bars

Beat together:
1 1/4 cup of butter ( do not use margarine the body can't process that)
1/2 cup raw sugar( unprocessed sugar , it's at your markets)
1/2 cup of your native honey ( you want the honey from your area of the country)
1/3 cup of granulated date powder ( it's at your grocery market)

Add
1 egg
1 teaspoon of vanilla
Beat until creamy

Combine together
1 1/2 cups of whole wheat flour
1 teaspoon of baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt or sea salt
1 teaspoon of cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon of nutmeg

Now add the dry ingredients to the creamed ingredients.
add
1 1/2 cups of oatmeal ( good fiber , good protein)
1/2 cup of hemp seeds ( these are a legal food and will NOT make kids high! This is one of the highest quality and concentrated forms of protein and EFA's, all needed for brain function)
1/4 cup of flax seeds ( great source of EFA's for proper brain development too!)
1/4 of wheat germ ( rich in Vitamin E)
1/4 raisin, or dates, or walnuts or all of them... all great additives
You could also add chia seeds  about a tablespoon
